IT’S COMPETITION TIME: ‘Like’ us on FACEBOOK to enter and get all of the details on how to win!

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited to a gorgeous breakfast, hosted by Arnott’s, with Aussie Pastry chef Adriano Zumbo in attendance, to celebrate the country wide tour of the ARNOTT’S TIM TAM LOVE MORE BUS!

The bus, packed the the rafters with Tim Tam treat packs, has travelled over 5000 km over the past 3 weeks, sharing the love across Australia, from Melbourne to Adelaide, Ballarat to Bathurst! Hundreds of thousands of Aussies have experienced the magic of the Tim Tam Love More Bus which has distributed more than 120,000 Tim Tam biscuits along the way!!! Now THAT’S a lotta chocolate!

New Tim Tam treat packs are a smaller pack available in a variety of DELICIOUS flavours. The treat pack size means Tim Tam fans can love more than one flavour! Personally, I DEEPLY love each and every option!

The bus finsihed it’s country wide tour in Sydney, down at Customs House on Thursday 7th March. There were a tonne of fun games and activities going on PLUS lots of Tim Tam treat packs up for grabs… IN EVERY FLAVOUR! Have a look below at some snaps from the day!

Also, check out my pics of some of the DIVINE creations served at the breakfast event! They were SERIOUSLY yum!

To celebrate the goodness that is the Tim Tam treat pack, one lucky PHOODIE reader will WIN……A YEARS SUPPLY OF TIM TAMS! All of the entry details are on the Phoodie FB page so pop over there, “like” us and find out how YOU could be the fortunate human to take out the prize!

Zumbo in the Garden

Here is a very brief story, with a few cute-sicle snappies that I wanted to share!

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Husbles had his work Melbourne cup lunch on Tuesday in Balmain…..On his way home, as he was in the area, (and HE knew that I knew that he was in the area!!!!) he thought he better pop into Adriano Zumbo’s Patisserie (probably one of my FAAAAAAAAAAAAVOURITE stores in Sydney!!!)

Despite having a weird expereince with Mr Zumbo re: Wedding cake (you can read that elsewhere on my site – haven’t worked out how to do links yet!), I still adore EVERY SINGLE thing that man makes…. I weep whenever I go into his store and I am COMPLEEEEEEETELY overcome with the desire to eat EVERY SINGLE THING within reach….which is EVERYTHING as the shop is 1mm x 1mm in size.

Husbles purchased 3 cakes. Snaps and a few words on each below!

CAKE 1 – Shaped like half a can of Coca-Cola – red and sparkly on the outside with a metal disc on top! Chocolate moussey / muddy on the inside with Cherry-cola gel bomb thingy! I didn’t eat it – husbles did – and loved it!

CAKE 2 – Blue Lemon Meringue pie looking thang – gave it to my friend, T….. HAVE NO IDEA what was in it or what it tasted like as I haven’t downloaded with her yet! But it whiffed of fairy floss….mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

CAKE 3 – This was the one that disappeared up my nostrils, alllllmost before it exited the box!! Pretty and pink – the girly girl cake to end them all! Crunchy nutty and white chocolate shell – really hard and crispy, thick thick layer of chocolate, light as a featherrrrrrrrr meringuey style exterior with SCRUMPTIOUSSSSSS passionfruit and some strange berry fillingy custardy thingy (I cannot speak, I cannot type, I cannot describe, very tired, off to bed – ALL I CAN CONFIRM IS THAT IT WAS POTENTIALLY THE BEST CAKE I HAVE EVER EATEN…..well on par with YELLOW @ Potts Point’s Strawberry Mascarpone Cake…..)

SATURDAY ARVO CRAVINGS AND THE STORY OF MY WEDDING CAKE

Trapped.

I am trapped.

It is TORRENTIALLY RAINING outside. My child and I are trapped.

Mummy wants cake.

Correction.

Mummy NEEDS cake.

Daddy has the car.

Daddy is at Harvey Norman.

We are here.

Trapped.

And Mummy neeeeeeeeeds that cake.

NOW.

It’s Saturday afternoon. And that means it’s cake time. Growing up, we ALLLLLLLLWAYS had cake on Saturday arvo. Look, the situation I am in right now is my fault. Totally my fault. I should have been more prepared. Should’ve made Daddy bring me cake BEFORE he went out. Should’ve bought it myself this a.m. in prep for an arvo in. BUT NO, I DIDN’T. AND NOW I’M IN SERRRRRRIOUS TROUBLE!

Ok.

Enough whinging.

I can’t bearrrrr to think about it anymore. So the next best thing to do is to close my eyes and think about the best cake I’ve ever eaten, and just pretend that I am eating it now…..

There have been many “best cakes”…. PROBABLY way / weighhhhhhh too many……but definitely right up there is our wedding cake.

Our wedding cake came about by “accident”…… I wasn’t a bridezilla that had to have a cake that looked like this and tasted like that and cost $42 bllion and was 789cm tall etc…..but what I did know about my cake was that there HADDDDDDD to be some sort of white chocolate component…..WHITE CHOC = DELISH = THE BEST = ME TO A TEA = HAD TO BE ON WEDDING CAKE.

SOOOOOOO – Because I wasn’t too fussed about the intricacies of the cake and who was gonna make it etc etc I decided that the local French Pat. was for shiz good enough. I went in with my Mum, we paid them a deposit and told them what we wanted “anything really, but there has to be white choc in it somewhere”…..they TOOK our deposit and RAN – YEP – HEAD FOR THE HILS – 5 days before my wedding they stuck a sign on their doors (WHICH I LATER FOUND OUT THEY STICK UP EVERY YEAR AT THIS TIME – EUROPEAN SUMMER) saying “sick relative o/s sorry, had to close shop, be back in October”……so deposit stolen, no cake, no baker, me in tears…

To the rescue comes my aunt, (excuse me – interruption – was about to launch into 12 hr story but baby going a little wild so am gonna finish this post off IMMEDIATELY)…..my aunty – lined up another pastry chef to do my cake, a mate of a mate, he ended up having to bolt to Melbourne for something, so HE then flicked us off to HIS mate, a guy called Adriano Zumbo (literally! before all this masterchef madness!), Adriano Zumbo didn’t show up at our meeting then told us that “a man has to have a day off y’know!!!”….ah….yeah….but we had an appt?!?!!? So anyway, two days to go and no cake…..

Called the venue, Catalina Restaurant (I LOVE YOU) and they said “Never fear, we are here! Leave it with us, and we promise you’ll love it!”

AND I DID.

It was 2 tier but each tier had 30,000 layers of different types of chocolate cake!!!! The outside was plaaaaaastered with large chocolate shards – WHITE of course and I wept. WEPT as I ate it.

WEPT.

So, as I sit here, at my computer, surrounded by pureed pumpkin, baby yoghurt and a wet nappy, it is THAT cake that I dream of….

oh oh oh……HUSBAND JUST DROVE IN!

“To the patisserie!” I YELL!
